Linda Christensen
After teaching high school language arts for more than three decades, Linda Christensen currently works as the director of the Oregon Writing Project (OWP) in the Graduate School of Education at Lewis & Clark College. She is the author of Reading, Writing, and Rising Up: Teaching about Social Justice, 2nd Edition, Teaching for Joy and Justice: Re-Imagining the Language Arts Classroom, and co-editor Rhythm and Resistance: Teaching Poetry for Social Justice. She is a member of the editorial board of the distinguished activist journal for social justice in schools, Rethinking Schools and has received numerous national and regional awards for her teaching and her writing, including the Fred Hechinger Award for the use of research in teaching and writing (from the National Writing Project) and the designation as the Outstanding Teacher in the Western United States, and most recently the 2020 NCTE Distinguished Service Award.
