David Kayfes

Born in Richmond, Ca., in 1941, I graduated from El Cerrito High School and from the University of California, Berkeley, with a bachelor's in journalism. After four years in the Army, the last two in Italy, I worked seven years in the sports information office at Cal, and 25 years as a sportswriter at The Register-Guard in Eugene, Or. I retired in 1999; I taught yoga for 19 years at Willamalane Parks and Recreation, I did compost demonstrations for the Lane County Extension Service for 15 years, and I was a mentor for  felons released from prison through Sponsors, Inc., for 12 years. I received the Community Leaders Together Volunteer of the Year Award in 2013.
