Shirley I. Metcalf

Shirley I. Metcalf served as the fifth president (2014 – 2019) for Central Oregon Community College. She was the first woman and first person of color to serve as president in the College’s more than 70-year history.  She earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Hawai`i and her doctorate in education from Northern Illinois University. Prior to coming to COCC, she held positions in Washington and Hawai`i.  Shirley serves as a member of the National Asian Pacific Islander Council, an Affiliate Council of the American Association of Community Colleges, and the Japanese American Society of Central Oregon.
