Littorals are the sections of the shoreline that are closest to the body of water—that is, the oceans, lakes, and rivers—they are formed by. These “zones” are affected ecologically by tides, currents, and waves and are alternately covered and uncovered in water. This distinction is often described as the “wet sand line.” Tidepools and reefs are found along littorals.
