troll fishing

In troll fishing, fishers bait individual hooks attached to lines that are dragged behind a moving boat. The caught fish are hauled in, dressed, and placed on ice as quickly as possible. Also called “hook-and-line” fishing, the method attracts the most viable salmon and reduces the need to throw back unwanted fish species. Troll fishing is easily regulated by limiting the number of lines and hooks per line and has a smaller impact on fish populations than other forms of commercial fishing.
